William Henry Van Pelt III

Among his peers, esteemed clients, and cherished family members, Bill is recognized first and foremost as a dedicated husband and family man. He personifies the “American Dream” in its most genuine sense. During Bill’s half century career, he has commanded financial operations in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Texas. He has a national reputation for his creativity in the areas of business succession and estate planning for the owners of large, family-controlled enterprises.

Growing up on the outskirts of a small town in central New Jersey, “Billy,”as he was known at the time, quickly gravitated to the golf course, where the seeds of his entrepreneurial spirit took root. He would hunt down golf balls and sell them to the pro shop for movie money and ultimately work as a caddy into early adulthood. While at Rutgers University, he redshirted on the football team. To cover college tuition, he worked nights at Johnson & Johnson’s corporate headquarters. Thereafter, Bill followed the advice of his sister, and began what would become a 17-year tenure with Metropolitan Life. In 1983, Bill acquired John M. Shannon and Associates, a boutique tax-planning firm founded in 1963, and rebranded it as The Mid-Continent Companies. Bill and Maureen, his bride of 50 years, live in Cypress, Texas. Sons Bill IV, Patrick and daughter Jeannine, along with nine grandchildren, all live nearby.

Bill is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He holds FINRA registrations of General Securities Principal and Registered Representative with Mid-Continent’s Broker-Dealer, Mid-Continent Securities Advisors, LTD.
