Sara M. Babazadeh

Sara has spent numerous years of her life studying all aspects of the business world in order to prepare herself for a career in business. Born in Tehran, Iran, Sara received her B.A. in English literature at the University of Tehran followed by an M.B.A. from the Swiss UMEF University, Geneva, Switzerland (with a minor in marketing), and then another M.B.A. specializing in oil and gas from the University of Tehran in 2014.

Upon realizing that she was missing an important component of her business training and expertise, Sara arrived in Houston in 2015 to attend the University of St. Thomas where she earned an M.S. degree in Finance in the spring of 2018. She is pursuing a career in the field of finance and studying to become a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Following her studies in Iran, Sara began her career at Galperti Group The Original, Tehran Office, where she was a member of the marketing team acting as liaison between a local buyer and an Italian manufacturer resulting in the procurement of a $60 million contract. She then worked for Rastak Parto Chabahar Company Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Tehran.

Serving as Marketing Manager, she became the liaison between an Iranian buyer and Indian manufacturer of gas pipe (MAN Industries (India) LTD) resulting in a $100 million project. Her final professional position in Iran was with Rastak Parto Anzali (FTZ), serving as General Manager. She provided financial advice and initiated a $10 million investment project for Tehran’s Rey Refinery. As part of her Master’s degree program at St. Thomas, she worked as a summer intern for the Houston’s TMB Companies where she participated in providing financial advice on projects. In addition, she participated in performance analysis, accounting and other general office duties.

She brings to Mid-Continent a passion for all things financial as well as a multi-country background in business marketing, management, and international business negotiations. Sara’s broad background, both professionally and academically, helps her contribute to projects involving financial analysis, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, investments, etc.

Sara is a member of Palmer Episcopal Church where she serves as an usher as well as a member of several ministries. She belongs to Beta Gamma Sigma (an International Business Honor Society), University of St. Thomas’ Honor Society, and is a member of CFA Houston Society. In her spare time, she volunteers at Assistance League of Houston.
